Since forming in Tokyo in 2019, SPOILMAN has established itself as a unique outlier in the Japanese music scene. Channeling the spirit of US grunge and post-hardcore legends, the band combines sharp, gritty soundscapes with high-caliber technical skill. Their music eschews reliance on expensive equipment, focusing instead on rhythmic precision and the "muscle-shredding" impact of their songwriting.
The band is renowned for a prolific release schedule that few can match. After releasing three albums in three years, SPOILMAN accelerated their output in 2023, dropping two simultaneous albums via 3LA before embarking on a major tour across Tohoku, Hokkaido, Kyushu, and Kansai. Riding the momentum of their growing reputation as a formidable live act, they released a sixth studio album later that same year.
Their latest work, 2025’s OBLIVION TRACKS, features songs honed during their energetic live performances. It has already been hailed as a masterpiece, fusing pop elements with the band’s signature alternative edge. SPOILMAN continues to question the definition of "alternative rock" in Japan, proving that true alternative music isn't about a genre tag—it's about challenging the status quo. This release by 3LA & Deaf Touch Records coincided with their first tour of the United States last August.
